Details of Birth Doula Services

Fees include all Prenatal Visits, 24 hour on call Availability (beginning at 38 weeks till birth),

services listed below, continuous support throughout labor and birth, and one postpartum visit.

The fee for all services mentioned is $500.00 ($400.00 for homebirth attended by a midwife).

***For a short time I will be offering a sliding scale fee to accommodate for financial hardships that many are

currently experiencing: our rates will adjust beginning with a base of $350.00 - $500.00.

A nonrefundable deposit of $150.00 is due at the time of signing a contract agreement; or within one week from our initial consultation. The final balance is due two weeks prior to your due date. I accept cash, personal check, PayPal* (4% transaction fee will apply for PP).

Services include:

Prenatally –

A free consultation/interview to discuss what you are looking for and discuss the services that I can offer you (including Pre-Natal and Post-partum Massage, Belly Casting, ongoing support, information, etc).
Two meetings (after our original interview) to discuss your desires and needs, birth plan, education, etc. Meetings generally last one and a half to two hours.*
Suggestions to make pregnancy more comfortable.
One complimentary pregnancy massage (at my office) in order to assist with related discomforts you may experience; as well as gain knowledge on ways to comfort you during labor.
Provide information about Herbs and Aromatherapy that can be helpful for pregnancy, labor and the postpartum period.
Referrals to community resources for pregnancy or family issues.
Review of your birth plan or help developing one if needed.
Email and Phone consultations to discuss pregnancy progress and address questions or concerns.

During labor and birth –

Support by telephone during initial labor period.
Professional labor support at your home or birthing site.
Continual attendance and support during your labor, birth and first hours post-partum.
Prepare the birth space to meet your needs (candles, aromatherapy, music, etc.)
Provide massage, relaxation techniques, positioning suggestions and other comfort measures or techniques as needed to ease labor discomfort.
Observe breathing patterns and offer suggestions if needed.
Explain any suggested procedures and their pros and cons.
Protect your birth space to create a worry-free environment.
Provide support and suggestions for your partner.
Help getting started with breastfeeding, if needed.

Postpartum –

A phone call, or personal visit if requested, within the first three days after your birth to answer questions, discuss your birth and offer postpartum comfort measures.
Explanation of newborn characteristics and newborn care.
Breastfeeding support, positioning suggestions, problem solving assistance.
A follow up phone call or email and one meeting two to three weeks after your birth to see how you and the baby are doing, talk about your birth, and get feedback from you.
Information about Attachment Parenting, Cloth Diapering, Co-Sleeping, Nutrition, Baby Wearing, etc.
A follow up visit within the first six weeks after your birth.

	Welcome! Childbirth should be a beautiful and empowering experience! – My intention is to support you in achieving the birth experience you desire and appreciating the birth that you have as it unfolds. Shelly DeMeo Doula Bio Over the past 5 years I have attended approximately 90-100 births primarily within a free-standing birth center and also for homebirths mainly in the NorthWest Ohio and SouthEast Michigan area. I also have provided Birth Doula services for clients at Flower Hospital, Toledo, St. V's, St. Lukes and Bay Park Hospital. I began my training as a professional birth assistant in 2003 alongside a certified nurse midwife at a free-standing birth center. I extended this training through DONA (Doulas of North America) to become a Birth Doula in 2005. In the summer of 2008 I attended a week long, Midwife's Assistant training at the most fabulous and famous intentional living community "The Farm". I currently own Kneading Time which serves as my private practice massage therapy business. I specialize in chronic pain relief and pregnancy massage. I have worked on the medical field since 1990 as an EMT, EKG Tech and a Registered Cardiac Sonographer. I am married and have 2 beautiful, spirited children!
